“Hope is the key to survival.” Oh really? Why do I feel so hopeless?

Y’know, I think this episode comes with a trigger warning in addition to a SPOILER warning.

The Last of Us is an incredibly bleak zombie game. No one is safe. Children, animals, and overly sensitive misogynists. It is VIOLENT and UPSETTING.

It also became a highly controversial series for its depiction of women in the apocalypse: There is a young girl character who everyone thought was Elliot Page, and the sequel features a totally jacked woman.

But whiny dudes aside, this first game is incredibly atmospheric, emotional, and frightening, so rejoice, because it’s fun to poke through, especially if you’re not a gamer, and double-especially as the HBO series premieres!
